Trump, Putin, and Maybe Zelensky? Alaska Summit Could Change Everything

The upcoming Trump–Putin summit in Alaska is already making headlines, but now there’s a new twist — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky might also join the talks.

Speaking to reporters, a NATO ambassador said it was “certainly possible” that Zelensky could attend, though nothing has been confirmed. If it happens, it would mark the first time all three leaders sit down together since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began.

Adding to the intrigue, U.S. Vice President JD Vance hinted that America may be “done with funding” Ukraine’s defense. This could signal a major policy shift, especially as Washington has been Kyiv’s biggest financial and military supporter over the past two years.

The Alaska meeting, scheduled for August 15, was originally framed as a Trump–Putin discussion on a possible peace plan for Ukraine, potentially including controversial ideas like territory swaps. Zelensky’s presence could change the tone — or the outcome — of the talks entirely.

Analysts say the possibility of having all three leaders in the same room raises both hopes and questions. Could this be the start of real negotiations, or just another high-profile political moment without concrete results?

For now, all eyes are on Alaska. The stakes are high, and the decisions made there could shape the future of the war — and Ukraine’s place in it.
