A recent global survey conducted by US-based firm Morning Consult has placed Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the top of the list of most popular democratic leaders in the world. According to the report, PM Modi enjoys the highest approval rating among democratic heads of government across several countries.
The survey, which gathers weekly data from over a dozen countries, revealed that Modi’s approval stands at 76%, making him the most popular democratic leader globally. The ranking includes other prominent names like US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau — all of whom trail behind Modi in approval numbers.
Morning Consult’s data is collected through online surveys and reflects public sentiment toward each leader’s performance in their respective countries. The methodology includes a representative sample size in each country, making the ratings fairly comprehensive.
This isn’t the first time PM Modi has led such global rankings. Over the past few years, his approval ratings have consistently stayed high, according to various domestic and international surveys. Analysts believe his strong domestic presence, communication strategy, and policy initiatives are contributing factors to this continued popularity.
While approval ratings don’t necessarily reflect political outcomes or policy success, they do offer an insight into how leaders are perceived by the people they govern. In Modi’s case, it appears the perception remains largely positive, both in India and on the global stage.
