In his latest national address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially rolled out Digital India 3.0, the next chapter in India’s digital transformation journey. The new phase is centered around integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into governance, expanding 5G access in rural areas, and strengthening online education platforms.
Speaking from New Delhi on Thursday, PM Modi emphasized the importance of leveraging technology to make governance more transparent, efficient, and accessible. “Digital India 3.0 is not just a mission—it’s a movement to bridge the digital divide and empower every citizen,” he said.
One of the key highlights is the use of AI tools in public services, which are expected to streamline government processes, from grievance redressal to real-time analytics in health, education, and infrastructure. The Prime Minister also stressed the urgent need to bring 5G connectivity to villages, allowing rural communities to benefit from faster internet, online job opportunities, and telemedicine.
Another big push is toward e-learning platforms, aiming to make quality education available in multiple Indian languages. This, PM Modi stated, is especially important for students in remote and underserved regions.
The announcement was met with a positive response from the tech industry and education experts, who see Digital India 3.0 as a major step forward in India’s digital journey.
As India continues to grow its digital footprint, this initiative could play a key role in shaping inclusive and future-ready development.
