Pet Dog Escapes Unharmed After Giant Boulder Crashes Onto Driveway

In what can only be described as a heart-stopping moment, a family’s pet dog in California had a miraculous escape after a massive 30-ton boulder came crashing down onto their driveway. The incident, which could have ended in tragedy, has left the family shaken but extremely thankful — especially for their dog’s unbelievable survival.

The boulder, roughly the size of a small car, tumbled down from a nearby hillside following heavy rainfall and landed just feet away from the home’s entrance. Security camera footage shows the sheer impact of the rock’s fall, and viewers can see how narrowly the dog avoids being struck.

According to the homeowner, their dog had just walked out moments before the boulder hit. “It was a close call. Just a few more seconds, and things could have been very different,” she told local news. The dog, a golden retriever named Max, was later found wagging his tail, unharmed and unaware of how lucky he had been.

Authorities believe the rains loosened the soil on the slope above the house, causing the rock to dislodge. Thankfully, no one in the house was injured, though the driveway and part of the garage sustained damage.

Local officials are now inspecting the area for further risks and have advised the family to avoid the slope until it’s secured.

Stories like these remind us how unpredictable nature can be, and sometimes, it’s just sheer luck that keeps us — and our furry friends — safe.
