Heartbreaking Scenes from Himachal as Monsoon Wreaks Havoc

Himachal Pradesh is grappling with one of the most destructive monsoons in recent years. According to state officials, the death toll has reached 219, with hundreds more affected by landslides, flash floods, and building collapses.

The situation remains challenging, with over 700 roads blocked, cutting off access to many remote villages. Key infrastructure, including power lines and water supply systems, has been badly damaged, leaving thousands without basic services. In some areas, residents are relying on relief camps and emergency supplies for food and drinking water.

Rescue and repair operations are ongoing, but bad weather and difficult terrain are slowing progress. Authorities are prioritizing clearing major highways, restoring electricity, and repairing drinking water pipelines.

For many locals, this monsoon has not only been a test of survival but also a reminder of how fragile life in the hills can be. The government has assured that rehabilitation efforts will continue until affected communities are fully supported.
