Barabanki Temple Gathering Turns Tragic After Live Wire Incident Leaves Two Dead

What started as a peaceful religious gathering in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, quickly turned tragic when a live electric wire came into contact with the crowd, leading to panic and a stampede. The unfortunate incident occurred during a religious event held at a local temple, where a large number of devotees had assembled.

According to officials, two people lost their lives, and at least 32 others sustained injuries. The crowd, mostly families and elderly devotees, was caught off guard when the electric wire suddenly snapped and came in contact with the ground near the main temple entrance.

Panic set in almost immediately as people began to flee in all directions. In the chaos, many were injured, some trampled as they tried to escape. Local authorities and volunteers rushed to the scene and took the injured to nearby hospitals. Several were discharged after receiving basic treatment, but a few remain under observation.

District officials have promised an investigation into how a live wire was left exposed in such a heavily crowded area. Questions are also being raised about crowd management and safety measures at the temple.

Locals say the event is held every year and usually goes smoothly, which has made this year’s tragedy even more shocking for the community. Families of the victims are understandably grieving, and the state government has announced compensation for those affected.

This heartbreaking incident reminds us of the need for better safety planning at public events, especially where large gatherings are expected.
