Akhilesh Yadav Questions Operation Mahadev’s Timing, Sparks Political Debate

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has raised questions regarding the timing of Operation Mahadev, in which security forces killed several terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir. The remarks came a day after the successful operation was announced by the Indian Army and J&K Police.

Speaking to the media, Yadav said, “Why were the terrorists killed yesterday? Why not a day before or after?” His comment has drawn mixed reactions, with some interpreting it as a political statement questioning the government’s motives, while others criticized it for undermining the efforts of security forces.

The operation, which took place in the Kokernag region, was the result of sustained intelligence efforts. The security forces had been tracking the movement of the suspected terrorists for several days. After confirming their location, the joint team of Indian Army and J&K Police launched the operation, which led to the neutralization of multiple heavily armed militants.

Officials involved have stated that the timing of the operation was based purely on tactical intelligence, not political considerations. They emphasized that delaying such missions could risk the lives of soldiers and civilians alike.

Yadav’s comments have sparked a debate about the intersection of politics and national security. While opposition leaders often critique the ruling government, many feel sensitive matters like counter-terror operations should be kept above party lines.

As the political season heats up, remarks like these continue to stir public opinion, especially when tied to matters of national security and defense.
