Indian Pilots’ Association Responds to US Report on Air India Ahmedabad Incident

The Indian pilots’ community has raised strong objections to a recent report by a US-based media outlet concerning an Air India flight incident in Ahmedabad. The report, which discusses details of an older runway overrun incident involving an Air India aircraft, has been called “misleading” and “one-sided” by the Indian Commercial Pilots’ Association (ICPA).

According to the ICPA, the report fails to present the full context and overlooks key operational factors that were at play during the incident. They claim that such reports not only harm the reputation of Indian aviation professionals but also create unnecessary panic among the public.

The incident in question occurred in Ahmedabad when an Air India aircraft reportedly overshot the runway during landing. No casualties were reported at the time, and all passengers were safely evacuated. The matter is currently under investigation by India’s aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The pilots’ body further emphasized that drawing conclusions without complete investigation findings is unfair and damaging. They also urged the media to avoid sensationalism and wait for official reports before publishing speculative narratives.

This back-and-forth has sparked fresh conversations about media responsibility and the importance of balanced reporting in aviation matters. As investigations continue, aviation experts are calling for calm and clarity instead of conjecture.
