India Did Everything Possible in Nurse Execution Case, Says Attorney General

In the case involving the Indian nurse facing execution in Yemen, India’s Attorney General has stated that the government has taken every possible diplomatic and legal step to try and save her. The AG confirmed that “all available options have been exhausted,” and that the country had left no stone unturned in attempting to intervene on her behalf.

The nurse, who was reportedly convicted under unclear circumstances, had become the focus of public and international concern in recent months. Several human rights groups and individuals had appealed to the Indian government to intervene and bring her back safely.

According to officials, the Ministry of External Affairs has been working closely with Indian diplomats in the Gulf region and had also made high-level representations to Yemeni authorities. Despite these efforts, the legal process in Yemen moved forward, leading to the execution.

The Attorney General emphasized that India respects the laws of other countries but also cares deeply for its citizens. He reiterated that the government had reached out through every diplomatic channel available, including international organizations and humanitarian appeals.

The case has sparked emotional responses from many, especially in the healthcare community. Supporters continue to raise questions about the fairness of the trial and whether more could have been done.

Though the outcome is tragic, the AG’s statement makes it clear that the government made every effort it could under very challenging international conditions.
