101-Year-Old Doctor Shares His Simple Habits for Living a Long and Healthy Life

Living to 101 isn’t something you hear about every day, and doing it while still active and mentally sharp is even rarer. But that’s exactly what Dr. Morris, a retired physician, has done — and he recently shared seven habits that he believes have helped him live a long, healthy, and happy life.

What stands out is how simple and practical his advice is — no fancy routines or extreme diets. Just small, consistent choices made over a lifetime.

Here are his 7 tips:

  1. Walk every day – Dr. Morris swears by regular movement. “Even 20–30 minutes a day makes a difference,” he says.
  2. Eat fresh and light – He sticks to home-cooked meals, mostly plant-based, and avoids overeating.
  3. Sleep on time – Going to bed and waking up at the same time every day helped him maintain energy.
  4. Stay curious – He reads the newspaper daily and enjoys learning something new, even now.
  5. Keep stress low – “Don’t hold onto things you can’t control,” he advises.
  6. Stay connected – Having a small group of close friends and family gave him emotional support.
  7. Have purpose – Whether through work, hobbies, or helping others — something to look forward to matters.

Dr. Morris believes that long life is not about doing more, but doing less — consistently and with intention.
